New sets are finally in and I couldn’t be more exited to pick them up after being quite fed up with Lego’s past direction to make squished and stretched models of real cars in the Speed Champions line to fit the size and look of the single-seater City style cars. 2 and probably more seats for sets like the Lamborghini Urus and true proportions is something I’ve been praying for Lego to do for years and they finally heard the community!
Note the classic Champions’ last single set – ’74 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0 next to the brand new, and gorgeous Haudi (had it been from Texas). Quick note on the 911 – it was featured in the Lego Speed Champions expansion in Forza Horizon 4, and mention of it appears in the very back of the Audi’s manual! Lego and Microsoft seem like Disney to never skip a beat when it comes to marketing. Now, onto the build highlights album –
Great new pieces, awesome way to implement the exhaust thus allowing a very true-to-life slightly off-center position, and brand new wheel design that’s reverse from the old styles. My only real gripe with S1 is that the steering wheel end up in an awkward position and the mini fig has to have his left hand restrained by his side in order for the windshield to fit in easily/properly. On a very, very pleasant note the new interior allows for quick conversion from right-hand-side drive to the left-hand-side if anyone wants to be country-specific with this build.
Lastly, I left out all but the front Audi logo stickers because this beast just doesn’t need too many – it looks fantastic as is.
